For projects where early access is essential, Rapidset (also known as Rapidcrete) offers a faster-curing alternative, allowing vehicle traffic from approximately 48 hours after installation. This makes it an excellent solution for critical areas, emergency works and projects where minimising downtime is a priority.

When can you walk on concrete?

When can vehicles drive on it?

For cars and light vans, a longer period is normally required. For HGVs, plant machinery or industrial traffic, concrete needs sufficient curing time before being put under heavy load. As a guide, standard concrete typically reaches approximately 70% of its design strength after 7 days and around 90% after 28 days, while continuing to cure and harden for years thereafter.

Because of this, we generally recommend waiting at least 7 days before allowing heavy traffic onto newly installed concrete. The exact timeframe will depend on the concrete specification, weather conditions, slab thickness, reinforcement and the expected loading.
